Phase 2 of the regeneration of Pendine Promenade has recently commenced. The project involves the creation of new public open spaces and landscape features set within a distinctive, coordinated public realm.
The scheme is being developed in 3 Phases, the majority of works taking place during the winter months to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum. The enhancement works are aimed at creating a continuous promenade route along the waterfront that links in with the Wales Costal Path and other visitor destinations in Pendine whilst enhancing the seaside community and making it a must-see destination for visitors.
Phase 1 is complete and it is anticipated that Phases 2 & 3 will be completed by the end of May 2013.
Carmarthenshire County Council secured grant funding through the Green Seas Beach Improvement Programme which forms part of "Visit Wales" Environment for Growth(EG4) Coastal Tourism Project which is part funded by the Convergence European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government.
The council's Director of Regeneration & Leisure Dave Gilbert said:
"The promenade plans are aimed at providing an attractive focal point for visitors entering the community and local residents.
"Pendine has the potential to be a first class leisure destination and our aim is to work together with the local community to realise that aim."
